Oops.

I really am quite terrible at maintaining any sort of blog. I have great ideas for it but inevitably they fall apart as I either have too much on my plate at once, or I cannot think of anything to write. Who knows, I’d like to be able to maintain some form of blog, maybe updating it once a week with something I’ve been working on, or possibly some artwork that I’ve recently done. Problem is, most of the stuff I’m doing is either hidden away from public eyes, brewing away and biding it’s time ready for release or it’s just something I’m not ready to show yet.

However, I shall try to be a little more open as to what I’m doing and will try to share some of the progress with anyone that is interested. If I can get into a rhythm of posting often it’ll stick and everything will be good. :)

Nazi Dino’s…

You know, I’ve been doing a fairly large amount of web based design recently. While it is enjoyable most of the time, all those lines and boxes do get a bit tiresome sometimes, to the point where you just want to be a little free of the restraints that web design provides. I also played a demo of a game called Dino D-Day. The story basically goes that in WWII, the Nazi’s managed to resurrect dinosaurs and put them into their army. Crazy and awfully cool concept.

So when I wanted a little freedom, I became inspired by what I saw and I came up with this. Enjoy!

Avoid downtown

This weekend is Comic-Con is San Diego. It’s basically a very large gathering of all things nerdy in one area. Think of it as a music festival for nerds. It’s a pretty huge deal but something you don’t want to be near unless you are actually going to the thing. Expect legions of Stormtroopers and at least a few hundred Jedi running around.

On a side note, I’ve been thinking and planning a few different projects. I think I may take too much on at the same time but some of it can be placed on the backburner for the time being. It’s just good to write down your ideas as they come to you. You can always build on them at a later date.

We also hope to do some more work on Social-Pie in the coming weeks. There’s so much work to do with it but once it’s all in place it should be easy enough to build on the general idea.

Back to work on Social-Pie

So it’s time to get back to work on Social-Pie. The last time we were working on it we were worried more about security more than anything. After reviewing the code, it’s time for a small redesign, not so much the way it looks but more how everything is called and how much css goes into it. I managed to make it bloated while attempting to do the complete opposite. Keeping everything simple is the key. So yes, a slight redesign is in order and I hope to have it ready within a few days. :)

A quiet day.

Well, today was a quiet day. I’ve finished re-formatting my computer and installing everything I use on a daily basis. A user doesn’t need access anymore and I’ve always felt that it is best to do a fresh install rather than allowing files to clog up the system and take up space. I always think it’s generally a good idea to do a fresh install every year to 2 years anyway just as general maintenance. I’ve always felt that way and always will I’m sure. Sure, many people won’t agree with it but it’s not your computer so tough. :)

Throw in the heat and today was a lazy day. I tried to build something in Photoshop just out of some random stock images I have but it really didn’t come together. My brain decided it didn’t want to work today. Or at least not allow me to try to be creative. Lets hope the heat leaves soon as I already have enough distractions without the extra thing to nag at me. Oh well, we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

*Shakes fist at Facebook*

Well the Facebook page for Cookie-Creative has been setup. I completely forgot just how bad the compression is when uploading images. It has basically managed to destroy my nice looking logo and turned it into a blurry mess. Real smart move when you are in the business of graphics. I guess you have to work with what you are given though. It’s not all bad though, I can still point people to my site instead so that should speak for itself, or at least I hope so.

Anyway, I’m thinking on building a new space image. It’s been a while and they are probably the most fun to do. Yes, it’s a lot of work and ends up being hundreds and hundreds of layers, but there’s something so organic about working on that sort of thing. Maybe I should have been a space pilot…

Time for a refresh

Well, my site has gone through a redesign. I think it was pretty successful!

I sort of left the last blog I had up which is unfortunate as I think it’s a great way to allow people to see the way I think, the way I work and also inform people of what I like to do and what I’m currently up to. I’ll have to make a promise to myself that I won’t allow this one to die out.

So anyway, welcome! I’m a web and graphic designer from San Diego, CA. I hope you take the time to look around my site. I’ll be keeping this up to date with new information as I work on some new projects that I have in the works.  Hopefully the next year will be an exciting time and you’ll enjoy what I’ve been working on. If you’d like to request a quote for your next project, just use the contact sheet provided and I’ll get back you. Thanks in advance!
